A 5 Day Silent Teacher lead Mindfulness Meditation Retreat
Silent Mindfulness Meditation Retreat: Exploring and practicing the foundational teachings of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in a 5 night silent residential retreat format.
With Beth Mulligan, certified MBSR teacher, Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi and Hugh OíNeill

Retreat practice is a vital way to nourish our personal meditation practice- which is life enhancing for everyone and particularly important for those who work with mindfulness-based interventions. This retreat is an opportunity to renew and deepen your practice of mindfulness meditation and living fully. The retreat will be held in a strong container, a supportive and beautiful environment, enhanced by silence with experienced teachers. Joshua Tree Retreat Center is a Historic landmark in the beautiful high desert of Southern California.

Program details: Much of our time will be spent engaged in sitting and walking meditation with periods of Mindful Movement. The teachers will offer daily talks, and offer individual meetings.

Who should attend: This retreat fulfills the prerequisite for Oasis trainings and so is appropriate for anyone on the MBSR teacher training pathway, as well as active Mindfulness teachers and open to anyone interested in the practice of mindfulness in a traditional retreat format.

Standard accomodation is a shared room with bathroom en suite.
A limited number of single rooms with en suite bathrooms are also available for an additional charge.
All the accomodations are fully heated and air-conditioned. Bed linens, pillow, blanket, soap, and towels are provided.
There is also a swimming pool and a large warm pool on site.

Retreat Fees
Retreat; $1150.00 includes all meals, programs and 5 nights shared accomodation w/ensuite bathroom.

Tuesday afternoon through Sunday lunchtime.

Check in from 3:00PM on Tuesday, 5th January.

Dinner 6:00PM, Program Starts 7:30pm Tuesday.

Check out after lunch 12:30PM on Sunday, 10th January.

Fee Includes all meals, programs, and 5 nights accomodation.

This is a secular mindfulness meditation retreat
structured to cater to people of all levels of experience.

The Teachers

Beth Mulligan PA-C

Beth Mulligan, PA-C is a certified MBSR teacher and teacher trainer through UMASS Center for Mindfulness. She has been teaching MBSR for over a decade to diverse populations. She currently teaches at the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and at Insight LA - Los Angeles.
Beth teaches the 10 week and 9 day practicum for mindfulness teachers in training. She is also trained in and teaches Mindful Eating and Mindful Self Compassion. Beth has a background in primary care medicine as a Board Certified Physician Assistant and has practiced medicine for over 25 years. She is a long time student of Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi and is the Guiding Dharma teacher at Insight Community of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA.

Charles Tenshin Fletcher - Roshi

Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi came to the United States from England in 1979 to study at the Zen Center of Los Angeles with founder Taizan Maezumi Roshi. In 1994, Tenshin Roshi received Dharma Transmission (authorization to teach) in the White Plum lineage from Maezumi Roshi, and Inka from Genpo Merzel Roshi in 2006 (Zen Master, final seal of approval). Tenshin Roshi is co-author of " The Way of Zen" a comprehensive book on Zen Buddhism. He co-teaches with Beth and Hugh and is skilled at offering the Buddhist foundations within MBSR in a way that is accessible to all.

Hugh O'Neill

Hugh OíNeill is from Dublin, Ireland, and has studied and practiced meditation and Yoga for more than 15 years. He combines his many years of creative and management experience in the media industry with his intensive training in Mindfulness Meditation programs. He has trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with itís originators, Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD and Dr. Saki Santorelli. He is co-owner of Mindful-Way Stress Reduction Programs and had been teaching MBSR for many years at a number of University Medical Centers, and in multiple non-profit and corporate settings. He is lead Mindfulness teacher in a number of research projects. Hugh has studied and lived in residence at Yokoji Zen Mountain Center under the guidance of Zen Master Charles Tenshin Fletcher - Roshi.

The Historic Joshua Tree Retreat Center;
Joshua Tree Retreat Center is the longest running retreat center in the western United States. And continues to hold an important place in the evolving consciousness movement, playing host to many of the great teachers of our age. It is also the home to the annual west coast Bhakti fest and Shakti fest.

Set on over 400 acres dotted with iconic Joshua Trees, many of the buildings at this famous retreat center were designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright and Sons.
And it's beautiful Sanctuary, meditation spaces, tree covered walkways, ponds, labyrinth, swimming pool and hiking trails make this a magical place to hold our retreat.

Refund Policy

For the purposes of the January 2016 retreat refunds are available (less a % processing fee) as follows.
On or before November 14th, refund less 30% cancellation fee.
From November 15th to December 15th, refund less 50% cancellation fee.
After December 15th - No refund for cancellation or no-show.

Beginners to Meditation and Yoga are encouraged to contact us about joining in our programs.
